Posts Tagged “Blackberry Storm”

I’ve mentioned my Blackberry Storm a few times in my other posts.  It happened to be released right around the time my T-Mobile contract was going to expire so I decided to buy the Storm and switch to Verizon.  I didn’t have much choice since the Storm is exclusive to Verizon.  It’s not like I wasn’t happy with T-Mobile though.

When I did sit down with the Best Buy rep to discuss my monthly plan I was told that Verizon does not have a plan with less than 400 anytime minutes, which is more than I talk on my cell phone a month.  So my monthly payment turned out to be higher with Verizon wireless than what I was expecting but I went ahead and did it anyway.

I’ve been using the service about three months now and just yesterday a representative with Verizon called my cell phone and told me I was paying them to much money.  I believe a “WTF” is in order here.  Why would they call me to tell me that they want to lower my bill?  I mean that is absolutely awesome customer service but I was shocked!  I can’t think of a time when someone that was billing me monthly for a service called me to LOWER my bill.

So basically the Best Buy rep lied to me and Verizon does have a plan with less than 400 minutes a month and now I am paying less money.  If this is how Verizon wireless does business everytime I deal with them from now on, then they have a customer for life.

Ipod Touch
Ipod Touch

Technology is crazy now.  I feel old when I think of what was available as far as technology goes when I was a kid compared to what is available now.

By the way, it is yet another one of my family members birthdays.  Let’s all say happy birthday to James, my youngest brother.  He is a new years eve baby.   James turns sixteen today.  He loves gadgets as much as I do so I got him an Ipod Touch and I am really impressed with the thing so far.

I myself have a Blackberry Storm.  I thought about getting the Iphone 3g but I just don’t want to deal with Apple every time I look at my phone.  People love Apple, I understand that.  And people love their Iphones.

Here’s the thing that bothers me about Apple:  They always want your money.  In everything they do, Apple always has path that gets you to the Apple Store and tries to snake money out of your wallet.  The Ipod Touch is a great example of that.  The Touch has wi-fi built into it and has paths to it’s online store in more than a few ways from the home screen including iTunes and the apps area of the Apple Store.  I’m sure there are plenty of teenagers out there with this device and access to cash.  These kids have easy access to whatever songs they want and can easily spend hundreds of dollars downloading songs and not even notice it.

Okay.  I got that out of the way.  Now let me say that the Ipod Touch is FREAKIN AWESOME.  I love the thing and it makes me wonder what I’m missing out on with the Iphone.  The applications available for the Iphone and the Touch make them very competitive.  I love my Blackberry Storm and I don’t regret my purchase at all.  I can’t deal with the keyboard Apple uses for their touch devices and I just enjoy the overall experience with Blackberry.  I just hope the applications for the Storm take off similar to the iphone’s.

The first app I looked for when I was playing with James’ new Ipod Touch was a free Twitter app and I found one!  I think it was called Twitterific, not sure.  I’m going to make James open a Twitter account so that I can send him messages.   :P

Rosies Bday

Rosies Bday

Sisters b-day today.  I didn’t buy her anything but I did sing her “Happy Birthday” into my Blackberry Storm with the speaker phone on in front of my assistants at work.  I was sufficiently embarrased and I’m sure that was gift enough for her.

Rosie turns 28 years old today which doesn’t make me feel very hot at this point.  She’s married with three kids and I have a blog.  Yeehaw.

Happy Birthday again Ros, Love you!

Drive Home in Snow

Drive Home in Snow

Leaving the home is not recommended unless absolutely necessary right now.  My drive home last night took about twice as long as usual.  I wish I had more patience driving.  It’s about the only time when I find myself getting on the irate side.  Add that to driving a two-wheel drive S-10 in the snow and you have yourself a very irritable Pedro.

I took this picture while I was driving with my Blackberry Storm.  Yeah, yeah yeah, don’t drive and take pictures, got it.  I like the Storm’s camera, it just takes a long time to get a picture off.  You hold the button and by the time it snaps a picture everything changes.  I have the Flickr app for the Storm so I can upload pictures I just took right to my Flickr account.

Anyway, I was getting at different things I can do with dismal weather.  I avoid going outside at all costs for starters, which leaves things that I can do indoors, more specifically, at home.  It is Sunday today and it’s football season, so for me it’s pretty easy.  Steelers are playing the Titans right now and I can watch that while I type a few quick wordpress posts.  Eating is a big deal for me to so I eat as much as I can.  There is a bag of leftover tamales in the fridge that I’m chipping away at.

The cool part is everyone is home right now.  It’s the only day of the week that I get to see both my parents, my brothers, sister in law and the nephew (he’s the coolest of the group.)

And suddenly the snow doesn’t seem so bad.
