Back then the type of weather you're feeling now was much more common. I remember several winters when the highs didn't get above 0 degrees for many days in a row. Once I forgot to shut my garage door after returning home late one night. It was about -8 out (with windchill making it feel worse, of course). The water pipes in that house ran through the basement where the garage was, and naturally they froze. I do not miss that kind of weather at all. Even CT is now too cold for me!! Stay warm.
