Ideas for Niche Websites
When I’m surfing around this magical world wide web of ours I always look for different ideas that people have for niche websites. A niche website is a site about a topic that has a demand for unique content and usually has an easy to target audiance. I’m not talking about anything difficult here, just cheap little easy to do sites that are unique and that don’t have a ton of competition. Coming up with an idea that nobody else is really doing but that has a demand is sometimes a lot easier than we think.
Ideas For a Niche Website
The best idea for a niche website is to make it relate to something that you really enjoy. Being very specific about your idea is super imortant to because you can narrow down who your competing against and thus make it easier to rank well in the major search engines. So, for example, say you’re a big fan of a breed of dog like the Parson Russell Terrier. You aren’t going to create a site about dogs in general. You would probably be more successful with a niche website dedicated to Terriers or, even better, Parson Russell Terriers (that’s assuming there is a demand for content for Parson Russell Terriers.) The key is to have content that is very unique, very targeted and thus easy to rank well with.

I’m going to link to a few niche websites that I’ve come across that are great examples of topics that have a demand but not a lot of competition.
- Mug Shot Dujour - This niche website is funny, easy to setup (it’s a WordPress install) and must be very easy to run. Great keywords for Google ads.
- Game Improvement Irons – A much more detailed niche website. A lot of unique content targeting golfing irons that help improve your game. Highly popular niche and very targeted. This site is powered by the Build a Niche Store system (BANS.)
- Birthday Gifts for Men – This niche website surprised me because it ranks very well for the search term “Birthday Gifts” but it’s even more targeted than that! A great example of a very targeted topic that has a big demand.
Niche Website Potential
The sky is the limit with the internet and niche websites. One reason why I’m so fascinated with online marketing is that there are so many possibilities, so many resources and so many untapped ideas. There are countless stories of online marketing success and they always begin with a unique idea, a little patience, and a lot of dedication.
One thing that some online marketers have trouble with isn’t finding an idea to work with, but actually spending the time to develop that idea before moving on to the next. You need to make sure that once you start something, you finish it. Another recommendation for a startup is to focus on the content of your website first, then monetize. Worry about the money once you actually have some visitors.
