The Importance of Content
I read a few blogs every day of other online marketers. A couple of them recently posted articles specifically about the importance of a sites content. Shoemoney’s articles are particularly eye opening as it is such a huge site and has a ton of subscribers. That’s not surprising in and of itself, the thing is Shoemoney’s posts always look like a chimpanzee proof-edited them. In the post he wrote today for instance, even the TITLE OF THE ARTICLE was fudged. This isn’t abnormal for his posts. The reason his readers come back every day is he writes unique, relevant content about a niche that he is undoubtedly a master at. They understand that he is not a master writer, so the misspelled words, run-on sentences and general butchering of the english language don’t bother his readers a bit.
I keep up with Soggy Dave’s blog over at Blogspot.com. Not a fan of blogspot myself but he’s done a great job with a platform that’s not quite as flexible as Wordpress but is certainly much easier to maintain. He also wrote an article today about cheese and mousetraps that basically talks about content, only in a unique way. Dave always does articles on testing what works and what doesn’t with the Build a Niche Store System (BANS.) I keep up with his blog because he offers something that is of real use to me and that not many other sites offer.
These blogs both belong to people who have “made it” in affiliate marketing and when they preach the same thing we should listen. Unique content that is not only relevant to a Search Engine, but also relevant to the person who lands there from the search engine is the key.
